KAI Japanese Language School has a unique curriculum optimized for non-Asian students to learn Japanese. Since our founding in 1987, students from all over the world have chosen to study Japanese at KAI.

Enjoy Japan in Tokyo

KAI is located in Shinjuku, Tokyo and it is a very convenient place for you to get around. You will never get bored in Tokyo since there are lots of exciting places like Shibuya and Harajuku– which is the center of Japanese pop culture.

Flexible Accommodations

KAI will arrange your accommodations. You may choose from sharehouses, hotels, short-term furnished apartments, etc. A homestay with a Japanese family is also highly recommended!

Japanese Courses where you can quickly make progress! 

KAI offers 2 distinct summer courses: The Grammar & Conversation and the JLTP Preparation course for students who want to prepare for the JLPT N1 and N2 exams. The Grammar & Conversation courses have 2 sessions starting in July and August. Students can take a session in July or August, or both sessions. At the end of the course, the students will receive a certificate of completion as well as a study-material portfolio.

There is no lessons from July 25 to August 9 due to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Grammar & Conversation

Casual Japanese Lessons – This course is designed to improve your conversation skills quickly in an informal atmosphere. Many oral exercises are given in each class and a free conversation session with Japanese guests is held on the last day of the course. The first 3 periods focus on conversation and the 4th period is designed for you to learn reading and writing.

JLPT Preparation Course (Japanese Language Proficiency Test)

N1 & N2 preparation courses designed for students from non-kanji countries

This course will cover all subject areas of the JLPT: vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension, with emphasis placed on reading, which is the critical component of the exam. Students are given tests at the beginning and end of the course to assess their improvement. Each student will receive individual counseling with their teachers and advice on how to further improve and successfully pass the JLPT exam.

Teen Program for 13 to 17-year-olds

This fun package allows you to fully enjoy your summer in Japan!

Hundreds of students from various countries have studied Japanese at the KAI Japanese Language School since its foundation in 1987. Due to popular demand, KAI has prepared a summer junior program where you can fully enjoy Japan and the Japanese language. Let’s experience both the traditional and modern culture of Japan along with studying Japanese, and have the best summer of your life!

See, Eat, Play, and Enjoy in Tokyo!

The variety of activities is one of the most notable aspects of KAI’s summer courses. You can partake in more than 20 kinds of activities in July and August in total. Activities in July are a set package and activities in August must be registered individually.
